Awesome UCWDC Competition
Worlds is the culmination of a year’s worth of hard work, dedication, joy and sacrifice for our competitors. It is final and most prestigious event of the year on the UCWDC calendar where winners in each division will earn the title of country dance “World Champion”. Worlds brings out the best of the best line dancers, couples dancers, formation teams, and Pro-Am competitors in each and every division, and from all around the world.
Unforgettable Social Dancing
Social dancing at Worlds is truly a unique and memorable experience. In addition to daytime open dance periods, we’ll have three separate ballrooms, each with a dedicated deejay and expansive hardwood dance floor, going until the wee hours every night to provide social dancers with the best experience possible. Really, where else can you social dance with people from all over the world all in the same night?
Dance Workshops for Everyone
Experience the expertise of some of the finest country, line and swing dance instructors available anywhere! Our workshops schedule will include dance classes for all levels (from beginning to advanced) every day of the event. Many of the classes will be included in the regular full week or weekend pass; others will require an extra fee. Please visit our “Workshops” page for additional information and schedule of classes.
New Year’s Eve Party
Plan to be at the Opryland Hotel early enough to join us for our spectacular New Year’s Eve Celebration! We’ll kick things off at about 9:00 pm with plenty of dancing, celebrating and a few surprises too. Click Here to learn all the necessary details.
Spectator Passes
Worlds is not just for competitors and those who like to dance…it’s also for those who like to watch those who like to dance. Come experience the many sights and sounds of Worlds! Since we all know outstanding country dancing is fun to watch, many people attend Worlds just to take in the music, the costumes, and the spectacle that is the World Championships. Each day, spectators may come and enjoy country dance competition in our main ballroom for an hour, a whole day, or several days – whatever you wish! Discounted “Spectator Only” passes will be available at the door.
Shopping with the Vendors
When you have a little free time at Worlds, you’ll definitely want to browse through our vendor lobby. Each year, merchants offering a wide variety of dance-related merchandise and services set up shop for the entire week of the convention. Items for sale include dance boots, dance shoes, costumes, clothing, dance wear, jewelry and accessories, cowboy hats, foot massage, photography and so on. Included in the vendor area will be our “Worlds Store” where you can take home a souvenir of the event – available for purchase are limited edition Worlds shirts, jackets, carry bags and other Worlds products.

Worlds DVDs
Each year our outstanding video providers produce for us an assortment of entertaining DVDs to remind us of the great experience we had at Worlds. We’ll have one crew recording brief summaries of the various dance workshops (workshop video notebooks), one crew recording individual dancers as they compete in their various contests (“spotlight” or solo video), and another crew recording the full-floor divisions of competitions, as well as the shows and other special activities (event video). Just for Fun/Social Competition
You don’t have to have a costume, a dance routine, or even a partner to compete at Worlds! If you haven’t qualified to dance in the UCWDC portion of the competition, you can always participate in one of the several “just for fun” social dance categories we’ll be offering. We’ll have a number of different social contest categories, including WSDC sanctioned Jack and Jill Swing, and CTST sanctioned Jack and Jill Two Step. Register in advance or at the door.

Workshops Overview:
Take your dance skills and knowledge to the next level! At the Country Dance World Championships, we’re not only concerned with producing a great dance competition – We’re doing our best to bring you the most comprehensive dance workshop program of the year. So whether you’re a complete beginner or seasoned veteran, a country dancer, swing dancer or line dancer, we’ll have a full menu of dance workshops just for you.
Our spacious facilities and large professional teaching staff allow us to offer numerous workshops at once. Most workshops will take place in the Tennessee Ballroom complex. But in addition, we’ll also have a number of casual workshops in the Presidential Lobby area (aka “the Line Dance Lobby”).
Workshops will begin in the afternoon on December 31, 2012 (New Year’s Eve) to get you warmed up for our New Year’s Eve Party. The following day, Tuesday, January 1st, we’ll begin early at 9:00 am and offer up to five workshops at a time until about 5:00 pm each day for the remainder of the week. We’ll wrap it up on Sunday morning January 6th with a few more workshop opportunities before we have to clear out. All in all, we’re planning over 120 workshops at Worlds 2013!

Types of Classes Available:
We offer a wide variety of dance workshops at Worlds. Based on how much time you have available to take them, and which ones appeal to you, you will select the type of admission pass that best suits your preferences. Generally speaking, the lower difficulty classes are going to be included in the price of your general admission pass. The upper difficulty level classes and specialty classes will require a different type of pass or an individual ticket. Here is a brief explanation of the types of classes we’ll be offering:
« Included Workshops – these classes will be offered in country, swing and line dance per the published schedule in the Line Dance Lobby area and in the Jackson Room on the Presidential Mezzanine. Most of these classes will be structured for the beginning level or the beyond beginning level dancers. These classes may be attended by anyone who has purchased any type of day pass or multi-day pass (excludes spectator passes).
« Line Dance Classes – these premium classes will be offered in the Tennessee Ballroom area in a variety of contemporary and retro line dances. All difficulty levels and styles will be taught by our international staff of instructors. A 6-day or 3-day Line Dance Pass or an “All Access” event pass will admit you into as many of these classes as you care to take during the week. Single class tickets may be purchased at the door by anyone who has not purchased either any the previously mentioned passes.
« Couples & Specialty Classes – couples (also called partner dance) classes will be offered in a variety of country dance styles (2 Step, Waltz, etc.) as well as Swing. We will also have classes on specific dance techniques. Most of these premium classes will be structured for the intermediate skill level and above. You must have purchased either an “All Access” pass or an individual workshop ticket for admission to these classes. An “All Access” pass will allow you to attend as many of these classes as you wish.

Gala New Year's Eve Party
Come join us on New Year’s Eve as we kick off the first day of Worlds and the first day of the New Year. We’re going to have the kind of party you can only experience at Worlds! After all, where else can you social dance with people from just about everywhere?
The party starts at 9:00 pm in two locations: general country, swing and line dancing will be held in Tennessee Ballroom C, while Presidential Ballroom B will feature an “exclusively line dance” format.
Our world renowned deejays will most certainly add to your enjoyment. Our NYE line dance deejay will be European favorite Tommy Weafer from Ireland, while the multi-talented April Prince from the United States will be playing swing and country tunes until the wee hours.
The Opryland Hotel will naturally supply bar service and catered snacks throughout the evening. We’ll add in some surprises of our own to make the evening fun and memorable.
Admission to the New Year’s Eve party is included in your 6 day event pass. If you don’t have a 6 day pass, either a one day pass ($50) or a single night pass ($20) will get you in as well. All of these passes are available on site.
You don’t have to dress up a lot, but we’d like to encourage everyone to dress up at least a little bit for this special occasion. Feel free to bring your own “customized” party hat and noise makers.

Five video's will be selected as the contest finalist.
Finalists will teach their dance on the open dancefloor in
the Opryland Hotel Lobby during the week of Worlds.
All submissions are welcome, but finalists must be present and teach
their dance to win.
The top dance will receive FREE REGISTRATION to Worlds 2014
in Nashville, an Average Joes Prize Pack and a private meet & greet
with the artist they Choreographed their dance to.
Video links should include a walk through and demo not to exceed three minutes. All age groups welcome.

3. Revised Variety Show Format:
This year's Saturday night variety show will begin with a brief "champions Showcase". This addition to our program will give everyone in the audience a chance to see and appreciate many of our brand new Champions that won their World titles earlier in the week.
We'll also have a special guest appearance at this year's show. Country music star Jamie O'Neal will be on hand to sing a couple of tunes just for us(you may see afew familiar faces on the floor during Jamie's performance). Also appearing with Jamie will be rising star Rachele Lynae!
