This summer, Erin Kouwe is offering a 4-day workshop is designed for dancers at an intermediate/advanced thru professional level. Dive into improvisation and contemporary technique with fresh ideas on foundational concepts in a fun environment.
Improvisation study is dancers' chance to play and push their limits. Cues based in anatomy, limitation and imagery inspire dancers to research and explore new texture, subtlety and freedom in their own movement pathways.
Contemporary class uses phrase work to challenge specificity and body awareness, and expand dancers' movement vocabularies. We will investigate the use of ease to facilitate greater range of motion, simplify weight transfer, and clarify movement. Inspired by the intricate phrase work of Gustavo Ramirez Sansano Erin seeks to research and renew the basic concepts of grounding, widening and working from a neutral place inside contemporary movement.
