Learn how integrating simple ballet basics into a movement practice can cultivate mindfulness and help to achieve a dynamic state of self-expression and individual artistry!
TAOD is a traveling workshop designed to bring |Dance Movement| to as many people as possible in a supportive and joyful environment.
This is a true beginning ballet & movement class — for all levels and ALL abilities!
For those:
- Who are already a student of dance, and want to gain a better understanding of basic technique fundamentals.
- Who always wanted to learn how to dance, but thought that they "missed their window of opportunity”
- Who are intimidated by big, professional looking classes, even if they advertise as beginner-friendly
- Who want to bring freedom and expansion to their current movement practice
- Or, who are simply looking to broaden their mind and body both spiritually and artistically in a supportive, non-intimidating environment.
Wear/Bring:
Loose, comfortable clothing that you can move in.
Footwear: bare feet, or ballet shoes (only if you already have them). Socks optional.
Bring a bottle of water and a notebook if you like.
Expect:
- An hour and a half class that starts with a seated warm-up, moves to the barre for placement and alignment, and finishes exploring movement in the center of the room.
- We will move a little bit slower than a usual dance/fitness class, as the goal will be to provide a whole and complete understanding of what the stances in ballet mean, rather than attempting to copy shapes or “make poses."
- Throughout class you will receive individual personalized attention for the safest movement experience.
- Using the basic principles of technique for structure, you will be guided to discover what dance movement means for you in your body.
- Expect to move, stretch and sweat, but know that you can take breaks and observe at any time.
